The Program in C that prints the total no. of characters typed by user is given below:
#include <stdio.h>
int main() {
char ch;
int count = 0;
printf("Enter some characters: ");
while((ch = getchar()) != '\n') {
count++;
}
printf("Total number of characters typed: %d", count);
return 0;
}
Output:
Enter some characters: +++++++
Total number of characters typed: 7
Pro-Tips💡
This program uses a while loop to repeatedly read characters from the user until the enter key is pressed.
The getchar() function is used to read a single character from the user and the value is stored in the variable “ch”. Each time the loop iterates, the count variable is incremented by 1.
The loop continues until the value of “ch” is the newline character, which is the character generated when the enter key is pressed. After the loop, the program prints the final value of the count variable, which represents the total number of characters typed by the user.
Note that, this program counts spaces and newlines as well, if you want to ignore them, you can add if(ch != ' ' && ch != '\n') count++;
inside the while loop.
